Monday 5th May - Paul Milsom appointed first team manager

The board of Mangotsfield United Football Club are delighted to announce the appointment of Paul Milsom as first team manager. The popular central defender takes up the reigns at Cossham Street after a successful nine week spell as caretaker manager which saw the club avoid relegation after a run of five straight victories.

Paul began his career in the football league with Bristol City before having spells with Cardiff City and Oxford United. A move into non league came in the mid nineties when he signed for Gloucester City before departing for Trowbridge Town. A transfer to Clevedon Town followed and after three years with 'The Seasiders' he was snapped up by Bath City in the close season of 2001. During the early stages of the 2003/04 campaign Paul made the switch to Tiverton Town. He remained with the Devon based club for two seasons before agreeing a move to Chippenham Town prior to the 2005/06 campaign. Ahead of the 2007/08 campaign Paul signed for Mangotsfield United where he was made club captain.

Details of the appointment of an assistant manager will be released after Paul receives the results of an MRI scan which will determine whether or not he can resume playing again.


Saturday 26th April - Thorne picks up supporters award

Central defender Gary Thorne has been voted Mangotsfield United's Supporters Player Of The Year. Thorne who signed for the club last summer from Weston Super Mare featured in forty seven of the fifty one matches played over the course of the 2007/08 season and played a significant role in a defence which conceded the third lowest goals total in the British Gas Business Football League Premier Division.

Thorne beat fellow central defender Alex Ball into second place whilst central midfielder Jon French came third.

The Top five are as follows - 1. Gary Thorne, 2. Alex Ball, 3. Jon French, 4. Paul Milsom, 5. Jack Allward.

Wednesday 23rd April - Hollyoaks return to Cossham Street

The cast of the popular channel 4 soap opera Hollyoaks are returning for a charity football match against Mangotsfield United under 18's. The event in aid of The Heart Of Bristol Appeal will take place at Cossham Street on Saturday 19th July kick off 3.00pm. Admission for this event is £5.00 for adults £3.00 for senior citizens and the under 12's. For match enquiries and tickets call 0117 956 0119.


Tuesday 22nd April - Presentation dinner details

Mangotsfield United Football Club end of season presentation dinner will be held at Cossham Street on Saturday 10th May at 7.00pm. Tickets for the evening which includes a three course meal, presentation of awards and disco will cost £22.50 and are on sale at the club. Dress code is lounge suits or very smart casual (no jeans).


Tuesday 22nd April - Early Bird season ticket offer

Mangotsfield United Football Club are once again offering supporters the chance to purchase an 'Early Bird' season ticket. Supporters buying a 2008/09 season ticket prior to May 31st can do so for the following discounted prices. If bought before May 31st - Adult £100.00, Senior Citizen/Junior £50.00, thereafter Adult £140.00, Senior Citizen/Junior £70.00

Tuesday 22nd April - Pre season friendly confirmed

Mangotsfield United will travel to Cornwall on Saturday 19th July for a pre season friendly against Peninsula South Western Premier League Saltash United. The fixture at Saltash United's Kimberley Stadium will kick off at 3.00pm.

'The Ashes' currently occupy second place in the newly formed Peninsula South Western Premier League and are pushing for promotion to the Toolstation Western League Premier Division.


Tuesday 4th March - Management team depart Cossham Street

Mangotsfield United Football Club have tonight by mutual consent parted company with manager Frank Gregan and his management team of Darren Perrin and Mike Kilgour. First team players Paul Milsom and Jon French will take care of team affairs for the immediate future.

The board of Mangotsfield United Football Club would like to place on record their thanks to Frank, Darren and Mike and also wish them well in the future.
