Tuesday 3rd November - The Zamaretto League South & West Division - Taunton Town 0 Mangotsfield United 3

Mangotsfield United bounced back from Saturday's dismal four goal defeat with a first away win of the season and a welcome three points as Taunton Town were swept aside inside the opening thirty three minutes at Wordsworth Drive, a win which sees Mangotsfield leapfrog their Somerset rivals and move away from the relegation places.

With first choice goalkeeper Tony Court ruled out with a dead leg, Sam Alexander was promoted from the club's reserve team whilst Scott Hendy returned to the starting line up after Mike Trought failed to recover from a knee injury.

A lively start saw The 'Field using both flanks to good effect as Taunton struggled to contain the visitors. Mangotsfield took the lead with eight minutes played after a passing move saw the ball worked to Kyle Tooze on the right side of the penalty area where after taking a couple of touches he beat Taunton goalkeeper Lloyd Irish with a fierce drive into the top left corner for his fifth goal of the season.

Midway through the half the lead was increased with Neil Arndale converting a spot kick low to Lloyd Irish's left hand side, after Neil Bailey's blatant push on Tom Knighton.

With the hosts under pressure a third goal inside a twenty five minute spell came on thirty three minutes when Tom Knighton received a through ball just inside the Taunton half where after shrugging off a defender he ran clear to the edge of the area before cutting in and drilling a powerful left foot strike beyond Lloyd Irish into the top left corner.

A Mangotsfield side which had controlled the first half suffered a blow just before the break when Danny Spill was stretchered off to add to a mounting injury list.

Despite showing an improvement after a poor first half Taunton threatened rarely in a disjointed second half, their only chance falling to Owen Irish whose low strike from the edge of the area beat Sam Alexander but with Scott Hendy covering the ball was cleared off the line.

With one minute of the ninety remaining the home side were reduced to ten men after Lee Groves was shown a second yellow card for a challenge on Geraint Bater.
