Mangotsfield United ended the 2007/08 campaign with a hard earned point against promotion hopefuls Halesowen Town. After trailing to goals from Rodney Hicks and Tom Piotrowski  Mangotsfield showed great resolve to draw level with two goals in the space of thirteen minutes from Alan Griffin and James Crew.

Halesowen took the lead on ten minutes with the first noteworthy chance of the match after a long thrown in from the right into the Mangotsfield penalty area broke to Rodney Hicks on the left edge of the area where he drilled the ball across goal and into the bottom right corner.

In an evenly contested first half chances were scarce as players from both sides struggled to come to terms with an uneven and dry playing surface. Mangotsfield went close to an equaliser midway through the half when a Luke Ballinger corner from the left was misjudged by Halesowen goalkeeper James Dormand who after coming to claim the corner parried the ball onto the crossbar.

The only other opening of the half came the way of the hosts on thirty one minutes when Mangotsfield appeared to have equalised after Luke Ballinger's corner from the left was cleared as far as Jon French whose strike from the edge of the area arrowed into the roof of the net. However after seemingly allowing the goal the referee's attention was drawn to his assistant who despite being fifty yards away from the corner flag ruled that the ball hadn't been placed within the corner flag quadrant.

Mangotsfield made a bright start to the second half creating two chances within eleven minutes of the restart, the first chance came on fifty three minutes when a James Crew's corner from the left was met at the near post by Alex Ball whose goalbound header brought a fine reaction save out of Dormand who tipped the ball onto the crossbar. Minutes later Alan Griffin beat the offside trap when latching onto Ryan Jerwood's through ball to run clear of the Halesowen defence only to shoot wide of the far post.

The visitors who had offered little as an attacking force doubled their lead against the run of play on fifty eight minutes through Tom Piotrowski who was rewarded for chasing down a seemingly lost cause when Andy Criddle's misdirected header back to goalkeeper Josh Clapham resulted in Clapham having to make ground before diving to his right only for the ball to run free allowing Piotrowski to side foot home from within the six yard box.

Mangotsfield hit back almost immediately to reduce the deficit through Alan Griffin after Neil Arndale's initial strike from the right side of the area was parried into the path of Griffin who followed up to apply the finish from ten yards out.

The match was levelled with seventeen minutes remaining when a cross from the right broke to James Crew who from just inside the area drilled in a low shot which went under the body of Dormand.

Despite a late rally from Halesowen which saw Josh Clapham make a stunning reaction save to deny Nathaniel Waite Mangotsfield stood firm to earn a deserved point.
